McCartneys Backs Elite Beef Award at Royal Three Counties Show

The FA Cup equivalent of the Beef showing world is coming to Worcestershire for the very first time, courtesy of the county's leading livestock auctioneers.The prestigious RASE Beef Burke Trophy, originally presented annually at the Royal Show from 1951 until its closure in 2009, and then at major shows around the country, will be awarded to the best pair of Beef cattle at this year's Royal Three Counties Show.The Beef Pairs Championship is sponsored by McCartneys - official auctioneers to eight cattle breed societies and fourteen sheep societies - and carries a top prize of £500.Show organiser the Three Counties Agricultural Society has invited renowned judge Mrs K. Adam of Glamis, Forfar, Angus to select the winning pair. he Society's President, Dame Janet Trotter DBE HML, and McCartneys Chairman, John Uffold, will present the trophy in the Show's Main Arena on Saturday 14th June.Royal Three Counties Show Chief Beef Steward, Richard Bradstock, is thrilled that the Burke Trophy will be at Malvern this year.He said:  "The Royal Three Counties Show regularly has excellent livestock entries, particularly beef cattle, largely as a result of top class showing facilities, as good as any in the country, within a friendly atmosphere, which is well recognised on the show circuit.  Having the Beef Burke Trophy here is just reward for having achieved an entry level which puts us on a par with the finest agricultural shows in England, thanks to the tremendous support of our long-standing exhibitors over the years. Pairs for The Burke Trophy Beef Pairs Championship will be selected by the breed society. Only pairs from the Hereford, Aberdeen Angus, British Blonde, British Blue, British Charolais, British Limousin, British Simmental, British White, Devon, Highland, Longhorn, Murray Grey, South Devon and one pair from Any Other Breed classes are eligible to compete.
